General Dentistry Glen Dale: Helping You Achieve Healthy, Appealing Teeth
- Posted on: Jul 15 2013
Having white and healthy sets of pearly whites is not really much of an ordeal. All it really takes is having good oral hygiene and a regular visit to your dentist or oral hygienist. As a matter of fact, dentists would tell their patients to always develop good oral care habits.
General Dentistry Glen Dale recommends some good practices to help take care of your teeth and gums at home while in between visits to your dentist or oral hygienist.
Brush your teeth two or three times a day. Every after meal, if possible. Allowing a long time in between cleaning may cause plaque to develop which will ultimately cause gum diseases. And when brushing, do it at least two to three minutes at time.
Floss at least once a day to help remove food residue and plaque between teeth. This will help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Replace you toothbrush every three or four months, as recommended by the American Dental Association. If the bristles start to fray, it is the best time to buy a new toothbrush. Frayed toothbrush bristles are less effective in cleaning your teeth.
Use a mouth wash as a further step in cleaning your teeth and gums. And use a fluoride toothpaste to help strengthen teeth.
And most importantly, visit your dentist or oral hygienist at least twice a year. This will be a preventive process that can help detect dental and gum problems early on. Thus, avoiding spending for dental treatments in the future.
When choosing your dentist or oral hygienist, choose a dental care team that does not only know how to care for your teeth, but one that will make each of your visit a relaxing, comfortable and anxiety-free experience.
