Consider Dentures And Get The Smile You Deserve
- Posted on: Jan 30 2016
Put your best face forward! Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you, and if you aren’t smiling, you aren’t making important personal connections.
Your teeth can be a great self-esteem booster…or a self-esteem deflater. For these reasons, dealing with decayed or missing teeth can be daunting. A time-honored treatment for missing teeth is dentures. Replacing badly decayed or missing teeth will help improve your appearance and smile – because without dental support, your facial muscles sag and you look older.
With today’s new procedures and Dr. Wylie’s expertise, dentures can open the door to a whole new life for you.
As replacements for missing teeth, dentures can be taken out and put back into your mouth. This facilitates ease in cleaning. Although they take some getting used to, today’s dentures are natural looking and more comfortable than ever. Your new dentures may feel a bit awkward for the first few weeks and eating and speaking may take a little practice while the muscles of your cheeks and tongue learn how to hold your dentures in place. However, once you are used to them, dentures can help you speak and eat more comfortably.
There are two main types of dentures: full and partial.
Depending on your particular needs, Dr. Wylie will help you choose the type of denture that’s best for you.
• With full dentures, a natural-looking, flesh-colored acrylic base fits over your gums. The base of the upper denture covers the the roof of your mouth.
• The lower denture is shaped like a horseshoe to accommodate your tongue.
• A partial denture rests on a metal framework that attaches to your natural teeth. Crowns are placed on some of your natural teeth and serve as anchors for the denture.
• Partial dentures offer a removable alternative to bridges.
Your dentures will be custom-made by highly skilled technicians, using the finest materials available, guided by impressions taken of your mouth. Our goal is to achieve for you the most aesthetically pleasing look possible.
